Monthly Newsletters will be available on the website and will be sent via e-mail if we have your e-mail address. If you do not have access to a computer, newsletters will be available at the front desk. PLEASE READ NEWSLETTERS!!! This is the best form of communication we have for upcoming events, fee reminders and announcements. It is the parent’s responsibility to know what is going on.
The studio will follow the weather cancellations of the Dallas Center-Grimes Community School District. If they deem it unsafe for children to be out on the road and cancel school for the day or let school out early, the Grimes Superstars will not hold classes either. If in doubt, call the studio for a recording on whether or not classes will be held. No cancellations due to weather will be refunded or rescheduled.
Holidays will GENERALLY follow school schedules. Holiday dates will be posted and reminders will be in the newsletters prior to holiday periods. We do not close for conferences, teachers’ workdays or other miscellaneous closings.
Attendance: you must attend all of your regularly scheduled classes. Good attendance is imperative, as absences and tardiness can hold back an entire class. Please make every effort to have your child at every class. Good attendance is a must for competition students. There are no refunds given for missed classes. Students must have attended at least 75% of their classes in order to be allowed to perform in the Christmas show and the Recital at the end of the year.
Classroom Rules:
No one allowed in the studios without staff supervision.
No street shoes.
No food, drinks or gum.
Cell phones must be silenced or turned off.
Hair needs to be pulled back for class.
Please visit the restroom before you come to class.
The lobby is for parents watching and students waiting for their class to begin. If children are waiting between classes, they are expected to bring something quiet to help pass the time. No running around, jumping off chairs, etc. They are expected to sit quietly so as not to disturb classes in progress. THE RECEPTIONISTS ARE NOT BABYSITTERS. If the staff has to address their behavior, parents will be called. After the second phone call home the students will not be allowed to wait at the studio between classes unsupervised.
Snacks are sold in the lobby. Parents and students are expected to pick up after themselves and use the trash containers provided.
T.V. monitorsinto the classrooms will be left on at all times. Please do not change the channel or volume setting. Monitors for tumbling and cheer classes will be turned on at the discretion of the coaches. It takes a long time to learn these skills; coaches will let you know when you may watch them.
Conferences with the teachers can be arranged at any time at the students or parents request. PLEASE DO NOT CONFERENCE WITH TEACHERS DURING CLASS TIME OR BETWEEN CLASSES. It’s very important to the success of the class that classes begin and end on time.
Children MUST be potty trained to attend classes & perform in recitals.
Private lessons may be available to current Superstars students at an extra charge to learn a routine for a competition or pageant, for extra technique help or if classes have been missed, etc. The cost is $25.00-$35.00 per hour payable to the teacher. Please see your teacher for more information.
Solos/Duets and special routines for the Recital will be selected by the Grimes Superstars staff. Competition team members and high school seniors that have danced with the Superstars for at least four years are the only students eligible to perform solos/duets/special routines for competition or in the Recital, if time allows. Choreography fees and private lessons to learn routines are an additional fee; they are required to perform in the recital, and are payable to the teacher. All special numbers and solos are to be choreographed by Grimes Superstars staff.
Pictures will be taken throughout the year and could possibly be used in promotions for the studio, newspaper articles about the children’s successes, etc.
A Lost & Found is located in the lobby. Please write your child’s name inside all of their belongings. We are NOT responsible for lost or stolen items.
If you like the studio, please tell your friends. If you are unhappy with the studio, please let us know! Ms. Jenny is in the office Monday-Thursday during the day or by appointment. A suggestion box is also located in the lobby for ways to improve the Superstars!
The Grimes Superstars does not carry medical insurance for its students. It is required that all students be covered by their own family insurance policies. If injury occurs, it is understood that the student’s own policy is your only source of reimbursement.
Grimes Superstars reserves the right to refuse service to anyone.
SUPERSTARS ATTIRE & PROPS
Any color dancewear made of spandex/lycra is acceptable. Hair needs to be pulled back away from the face. We will not compromise on this rule as it is for each child’s safety. In order to properly instruct your child, we must be able to see their body. Therefore, form fitting clothing (such as tights and leotard) is a necessity. No baggy clothing. This is especially important in tumbling, as baggy clothing hinders proper spotting.
